Convenience Center hang tag cost reduced to $75
For Newton County residents yet to purchase their vehicle hang tag for access to the county’s trash collection Convenience Centers a new fee has been set effective Feb. 23 and expiring on June 30, 2018.
The tags can be purchased at the Newton County Historic Courthouse, 1124 Clark Street for $75. For those that are eligible for a hardship cost, that price too has been reduced, to $50.
The price for the tags, which begin being accepted on July 1, 2017, was $145. The hardship cost was $75 to those who earn below the following categories: family of one, $15,075 per year; family of two, $20,300 per year; family of three, $25,525 per year. Hardship applicants must list all sources of income and show proof of income. Acceptable proof of income may be any of the following: federal income tax return, Social Security retirement statement, pay stub, pension statement or Supplemental Security Income benefit determination letter.
Residents who do not presently display a Newton County vehicle hang tag must complete an application and show proof of residency with a tax or utility bill, mortgage statement or lease agreement.
Hang tags can be purchased at the Newton County Historic Courthouse Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. or online at co.newton.ga.us.
Newton County Convenience Centers are open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the following locations: 2010 Adams Circle, 70 Stone Road, 14645 Highway 36 and 10545 Oak Hill Road. An additional center is open for recycling only at a cost of $24 at 11575 Covington Bypass road.
