Public Notice: Gaither Wildlife Management Area
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources will be amending its rules governing of hunting of game animals and game birds on Wildlife Management Areas to include the Gaither Wildlife Management Area.
The Gaither Wildlife Management Area will be a 2,129 acre tract in Newton County to provide opportunities to hunt deer, turkeys, small game and migratory birds. The proposed hunt opportunity is not expected to negatively affect wildlife populations present. The proposed regulations establish regulated hunting opportunities on this newly-leased Wildlife Management area for the 2018-19 hunting season.
The proposed regulations provide 16 days of archery deer hunting opportunities; 13 days of either-sex firearms deer hunting opportunity; 102 days of small game hunting opportunity and 23 days of turkey hunting opportunity.
